PSYCHOS IN LOVE (l986)
We filmed PSYCHOS IN
LOVE in the summer of 1986. Carmine
Capobianco and I wrote the script in what seemed like days.
A love story about two psychotic killers, Joe and Kate, who shared a
common hatred for grapes. They
hated all kinds grapes. They hated
green grapes. They hated purple
grapes. They hated grapes with
seeds. They hated grapes without
seeds. They hated them in bunches,
one at a time, and in small groups of twos and threes.
They fucking hated grapes.
Debi Thibeault played
Kate. Carmine played Joe. They
were brilliant in their improv. And
if anything comes across when watching this film, it’s that we had fun making
it. From the cameos by members of
the crew...Jan Radder pumping the Acme Medium-sized Blood Pump saying: “I
can’t stop now”...to the stripper who wouldn’t die...to Professor Morono
of Phoenix Records in Waterbury playing Debi’s disco-throwback pickup.
PSYCHOS IN LOVE still
makes me laugh to this day. The
lines:
“We can make babies
in this living room.”
“That was no fun at
all.”
“I’m hotter than a
warm front rolling in off the Gulf of Mexico”
“What...a woman?”
The theme song...
Frank Stewart as the
plumber from hell.
And...hell, it cost
only $70,000 to make. We shot it on
16mm. I shot, edited, produced,
directed and co-wrote the thing. It
was supposed to be campy and tacky and way left of center.
It’s the one film that I’ve made that I’m pleased with, that I’m
proud of. You can either love it or
hate it. Either way, I take the
blame.

Review
Serial killer Joe (Carmine Capobianco)
runs a local strip joint, and kills chicks who like grapes. Kate (Debi Thibeault)
is also a serial killer who kills men who like grapes. The two meet, fall in
love, and begin killing both on their own and as a couple. They move in
together, rent horror films, and discuss how they "offed" their latest
victims. Before long, a finger eating cannibal plumber attempts to blackmail the
psycho couple. Track down this gem to find out if he succeeds!
PSYCHOS IN LOVE is packed with hysterical dialogue, off the wall kill scenes (with decent gore FX for a b-movie), and even a great, swingin' duet between the kill crazy couple! Joe and Kate's wedding scene features a half deaf preacher, and is sure to make anyone crack up. With the exception of STUDENT BODIES (l98l), PSYCHOS IN LOVE is possibly the greatest, most hysterical slasher film spoof of all time.

New going back to 1986, this curious delirious object, more parodic than realistic is proposed to us by Uncut Movies. American PSYCHOS IN COILS dissociates EC above mentioned Germanic vein in what it approaches the topic of the sérial-killer with derision. Visionary, since put out of box there is more than fifteen years whereas the vogue of the killer in series was yet only with its premises, this film without claim is pretext to be stripped grinds pine ups, before making them undergo the last insults, with blows of knife most of the time.
Capobianco which camps Joe, the male hero of this version gore of the KILLERS OF HONEYMOON, also author of the music, joined to the Bechard realizer for us concocter this mixture of strange and incongruous. Worst (the quality of the band testifies to an obvious lack to average) close with the best. And in particular this blow of hat with PSYCHOSIS. In a remake of the famous scene of the shower, which one could rename the GRAPES OF ANGER, you will include/understand why by seeing film, Gorman Bechard makes a foot of remote nose to the pale copy of Gus Van sant, being registered more like the heir to Gordon Lewis of BLOOD FEAST that of Alfred Hitchcock. Because this new is a marginal and minor work, kind of BONNIE & static CLYDE, with horrific sauce, where incredible the côtoie the grotesque one (the plumber cannibal which prevails in parallel of our couple homicide, bénificiant more total impunity).
