DISCONNECTED (1983)
DISCONNECTED is a 90
minute feature I directed, edited, produced, shot and co-wrote back in 1983,
while still taking film classes at the New School for Social Research in NYC.
Shot in 16mm, on a Bolex, its entire budget was $40,000.
In a nutshell, it
tells the story of a young woman who’s having some real problems with her
phone. But this is nothing AT&T
can fix. It seems that demons have
her number. Add to the mix the fact
that she’s dating a serial killer, and well, you’ve got entertainment.
DISCONNECTED is not a
great film by any stretch of the imagination.
But it does feature some good acting from Frances Raines and Carmine
Capobianco. And it was a good
learning experience. And really, in
the long run, isn’t that what matters most?
